Inekafe – album release party in the clouds

At November the 24th an unique album release party has been prepared by the Slovak band Inekafe. As their frontman Vratko Rohon is an airline pilot, the band come up with idea to have their release party for a new album Právo na šťastie right during a flight, with 72 journalists, photographers or other media representatives and 72 fans on board.

The route started in Bratislava and followed the route Nitra – Sliač – Poprad – Sliač – Nitra – and back to Bratislava. The album was officially “baptized” with fresh mountain air in the altitude of 6400 m above sea level.

Rammstein in Bratislava, November 6th, 2011

Rammstein started the European tour Made In Germnay 1995 – 2011 in Bratislava, at Štadión Ondreja Nepelu (or Slovnaft Arena) with a breathtaking show, which was prepared for a few months.

This kind of event doesn’t need much else to say… just to regret if you weren’t there….

Ondrej Nepela Memorial 2011

Already 19th year of Ondrej Nepela Memorial had been held in Bratislava from September 28th till October 1st. Nearly a hundred competitors from 28 countries, from Japan to USA.

This was not a typical event for me to shoot, but I have to say it was pretty challenging and pleasant experience at the same time.

Richard Müller, personality of Slovak music scene for several decades, enchanted audiences by the intimate atmosphere of his concert in theater Nová Scéna. As special guest had been invited famous Czech singer Dan Bárta. “It’s simple. To know is enough.” Richard Müller commented Dan Bárta’s performance. And the same goes to Richard.

Idan Raichel Project, Nová Scéna theatre, Bratislava, September 15th 2011

Talented Israeli musician Idan Raichel introduced himself and his so called Idan Raichel Project to Bratislava’ audience for the first time.

An article about Idan Raichel performance at theatre Nová Scéna, Bratislava is available at www.hudba.sk. It is typical for Idan Raichel to collaborate with many musicians and artists. He had invited Miro Jaroš and Dominika Mirgová as guest singers this time, both well-known from Slovak version of The Search for a Superstar (“Slovensko hľadá superstar”). According to Idan Raichel, Miro Jaroš is partially responsible for his visit here in Bratislava, forasmuch as Jaroš remade Idan Raichel’s famous song Mi’ma’amakim into a Slovak language.

Photographer’s note:

I have to admit, I never heard about Idan Raichel before, but I’m glad I had the opportunity to shoot one of his live performance. The concert in Bratislava was small compared to his typical shows across the world. Idan has been accompanied by seven musicians only, as this was an acoustic performance. But even the small venue could not cut from the feel Idan Raichel and other six musicians conjured.

Shooting itself was pretty tough. The access was only from sides of auditorium. So from one side Idan Raichel had been situated too far with a piano in front of him, from other side he sat with back to me. The only chance to shoot his face was when he was speaking to the audience. Nevertheless, a few moments captured on photos below reveal the spirit of Idan Raichel’s performance.

Three perfect guitarists and an amazing drummer…. I would have expected a higher visitors number for performance of an ex-Megadeath guitarist, but even half empty Majestic Music Club did not cut from an atmosphere which Marty Friedman and his accompanying band conjured…. Takayoshi Ohmura as well as bass player Ryota Yoshinari were perfect match for Marty’s guitar mastery, not forgetting the excellent Mitsuru Fujisawa’s performance.
